EBN™ (Evenbetternow) Bentonite Clay is a 100% pure pharmaceutical grade bentonite clay that has a very high cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 98-107 meq/100g.
EBN™ Detoxifying Bentonite Clay for bathing not only draws out chemical toxins and pollutants from the body, it also assists in pulling out heavy metals (including mercury, lead, arsenic, aluminium, copper, and cadmium) that many experts in the field of environmental toxicology believe is a primary factor in many diseases today.
100% Pure Bentonite Clay
Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay has no added ingredients. This is a 100% pure and natural product.
Pharmaceutical Grade
Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay is a USP (United States Pharmacopeia) purified bentonite clay that is pharmaceutical grade; this means it is suitable for cosmetic and spa (bathing) purposes.
At the present time, other manufacturers of clays for bathing are not using pharmaceutical grade clay; however, our supplier was only able to sell us the pharmaceutical grade for bathing purposes based on his industry’s regulations.
According to Ralph Spindler, research and development scientist for a leading clay manufacturer, all clays typically contain impurities, usually bacteria and molds; therefore when bathing in unpurified clay, it is possible that what people think of as “detox reactions” may actually be reactions to impurities in the clay itself.
Hypoallergenic
Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay contains no spices, herbs, excipients or fillers which sometimes cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals. Since this clay can draw out all toxic metals and chemicals, special formulas are not needed.
100% Free of Bacteria, Viruses, Molds or Yeast
Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay is guaranteed to be free of bacteria, viruses, molds and yeast. No other bathing clay on the market makes this claim. It is important to find “purified” clay for bathing, and this is especially true if you are sensitive to molds or yeast, or have a weakened immune system.
High CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity)
Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay has the highest cation exchange capacity, or negative ionic surface charge, of any clay we have sold (98-107 meq/100g on the CEC scale). This means that it has a superior “pulling action” for drawing toxins out through the pores of the skin.
Mixing Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay with very warm water creates a high negative ionic surface charge, which draws any “positively charged” particles, such as mercury, lead, aluminum, pesticides, insecticides, food additives, nicotine, and any inorganic residues through the pores of the skin. The toxins are drawn out electro-magnetically.
Disperses Easily in Water
Unlike most bentonite clays, Evenbetternow™ Bentonite Clay disperses easily in water, with virtually no clumping. This is highly desirable, since there is little mixing required and the clay does not adhere to the skin the same way other bathing clays do.
Evenbetternow™ Clay Baths may be more effective than a “clumping” clay since it has a bigger exposure of its surface area to toxins. With the clay possessing both drawing and absorbing capacity, its detoxifying properties are exceptionally high.
Easy Clean-Up
Unlike other bathing clays, this clay can be safely rinsed down the drain. No drain guards or special cleaning or clay dissolving agents are required.
Precautionary Note for Septic System Homes: If you are on a septic system, we highly recommend using the clay in a foot bath and not in the tub as your septic system warranty may be voided if clay is put down the drain. Even though our clay blends well with warm water, detoxpeople / Evenbetternow will not take responsibility for problems with your septic system. Therefore please use at your own discretion if on a septic system.
™ DETOXIFYING CLAY BATH INSTRUCTIONS
1. Open the jar of clay. Avoid breathing in the clay dust powder. Use of a dust mask is recommended. Remove the scoop at the top of the jar and use the measuring marks on the scoop to accurately measure the proper dosage (See guidelines below to calculate proper dosage and time in bath according to condition). Be sure to secure jar lid after use and store in a dry area.
2. Begin filling the bath with hot water and empty the pre-measured amount of clay from the scoop (1 scoop = ½ cup) into the bath-water. If the tub is a Jacuzzi, please tape up the jets with duct tape. The simplest and most effective way to dissolve the clay is to sprinkle it over the running hot water like icing sugar on a cake. This can be done at any stage of the tub filling up. Using a stainless steel or plastic whisk or other non-metallic stirring utensil, thoroughly mix the clay into the bath-water. The small particle size of the clay will dissolve easily with no clumping. Continue to fill the tub allowing space to add more water later.
3. After having thoroughly mixed the clay into the bath water allow the clay to fully hydrate by letting it sit for 10-20 minutes before getting in. Prior to getting in, measure the temperature of the bath water with a thermometer. Add cooler or hotter water to bring the temperature between 100-104 degrees Fahrenheit, depending upon your physical condition as per the guidelines on the back of this sheet. At this temperature the water should feel warm but not hot like a hot tub. The more exposure to the clay water, the stronger the detoxification will be.
4. Step into the tub carefully as the clay may be slippery. Submerge as much of your body as possible. If your tub is small and you cannot totally immerse yourself up to your neck, lie on one side for half the time and then on the other side for the remainder of the time.
5.After the allotted time, carefully raise your body out of the tub. Take a tepid shower and shampoo your hair in a separate shower stall. If you do not have a separate shower, dry off as best as possible and follow Step 6.
6. Open the tub drain and allow the bath-water to drain. Swish any residual clay particles with a large sponge and more water until the rest of the clay is down the drain. This will be a very easy cleanup as most of the clay will go down the drain when you first let out the drain plug. You can then shower and shampoo in the tub after it is clean.
7.Skin moisturizer will help to relieve any resultant dryness. After the bath you may feel a bit fatigued or very relaxed. Just relax for as long as you want: Watch TV, read, meditate, listen to music, etc.
NOTE: Bentonite clay can also deplete essential minerals and electrolytes. Drink plenty of water. Vitamin C and trace mineral powder, placed in water, is an effective way to replenish these minerals and electrolytes. Other electrolyte drinks will work, but it is best on your body if they are not highly sweetened. Any formula of essential minerals, amino acids and electrolytes that you chose will suffice. Be sure to take this right after your bath. It also is a good idea for some people to take it before the bath as well.
GUIDELINES FOR EVENBETTERNOW CLAY DETOXIFYING BATH
Please follow the guidelines for the category that defines your personal health. We recommend that you begin your baths using the least amount of clay and the lesser time in the bath for each category. With each bath, you can raise, by increments, the clay dosage and the time in the bath until you gradually build up to the maximum amount your body can tolerate.
Chronic/Degenerative Conditions: Use ½ - 1 cup of clay (1-2 scoops) or do foot baths. Take baths once a week. Keep your water temperature between 100-102 degrees. Stay in tub 10 to 15 minutes. Minor Ailments such as pain, fatigue or general malaise: Use ¾ - 2 cups (1 ½ - 4 scoops) in the tub. Take one bath per week or no more than once every 72 hours. Keep water temperature between 101-103 degrees. Stay in tub 15 to 20 minutes.
Health Maintenance and Prevention: Use 1 to 4 cups (2 – 8 scoops) of clay in the tub. Take baths every 5-10 days. Water temperature should be between 101-103 degrees. Tub time up to a full 20 minutes.
CAUTION: DO NOT INHALE CLAY DUST. KEEP OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN
SUGGESTED PROTOCOL FOR CHILDREN
Child’s Age Clay Dosage Time in Tub
Under Age 2 1/3 to 1/2 cup (2/3 to 1 scoop) 3-5 minutes
Ages 2-6 1/3 to 2/3 cup (1 to 1 1/3 scoops) 3-8 minutes
Ages 6-12 2/3 to ¾ cup (1 1/3 to 1 ½ scoops) 5-10 minutes
Over Age 12 3/4 to 1 cup (1 1/2 to 2 scoops) 8-15 minutes
POSSIBLE DETOXIFICATION SYMPTOMS
As chemical and heavy metal toxins are pulled from the bloodstream and surface tissue, there may be reactions called “toxic healings” or “retracings”. This may result in - the following symptoms:
- fatigue
- light-headedness
- lethargy
- hyperactivity
- loss of appetite
- irritability
- nausea
- flu-like symptoms
- skin eruptions
In very rare cases, vomiting may occur. This is a sign that the child is releasing a large amount of toxins at once. Remove the child from the bath immediately. The above reactions will pass within 24 – 48 hours.
Sometimes, more intolerable reactions mean that the toxins are being unbound faster than the body can eliminate them. If this is the case, just decrease the dosage of the clay and the time in the bath. Also, make sure the water is not hotter than 102 degrees. Activated charcoal is well known for neutralizing toxins. Rescue Remedy, a natural flower essence found in any health food store, can be quite effective. Lecithin can help to safely restore metals back into tissue.
CONTRAINDICATIONS Use Evenbetternow detoxifying clay bath only under the advice of a physician or healthcare provider if you have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, or are on any pharmaceutical medication. Do not use the clay bath if you are sick with the flu or other viral or bacterial infection. Pharmaceutical drugs, being chemicals, may also be drawn out through the pores of the skin and may need to be replenished. It is recommended to take the clay bath prior to taking any medications. Avoid breathing in the clay powder directly. Use of a dust mask is recommended.
GUIDELINES FOR FOOTBATHS
The suggested amount of Evenbetternow detoxifying clay is ½ -2 cups (1 – 4 scoops) in the footbath for 10-40 minutes. Fill the bucket full enough so that the water comes up to the calf, if possible. The water should be between 100-102 degrees. Place the clay in the water and stir thoroughly with stainless steel or plastic whisk. Allow the clay to sit for 10 to 15 minutes before putting your feet in. When time is up, remove your feet and clean them with warm water. Add more hot water if necessary. Moisturize the feet. Drink electrolytes, water, juice, etc.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE A CLAY BATH? A clay tub bath can be taken once per week, sometimes more as you build up tolerance A footbath may be given as often as every three days. The goal of taking these baths is to decrease the toxic load on the body. We suggest that you test your urine every four weeks, using our heavy metal screen test. This is an inexpensive, immediate-result way to chart your progress.
The Heavy Metal Effect
•Heavy metals are the major source for the production of free radicals as well as undermining the internal environment and body chemistry.
•Heavy metals reduce the efficacy of medical treatment by up to 60%.
•There is little hope for antioxidants and mineral supplements to do their job properly, if the body is burdened with heavy metals.
•Sub-acute heavy metal toxicity is directly or indirectly linked to issues many people suffer from regularly: -
- Headaches
- Anger, irritability, depression
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol
- Lack of energy
- Weight gain
- Difficulty concentrating and/or remembering things
- Rashes, allergic reactions or sensitivity
- Bloating, gas, or constipation
Heavy metals also have been found to contribute to disorders such as:
- Arthritis
- Asthma
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Diabetes
- Fibromyalgia
- Heart disease, arterial sclerosis
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinson's disease
- Ulcers, and many others
Heavy Metal Screen Test
The Heavy Metal Screen Test is a state-of-the-art scientifically proven screen test developed by naturopathic doctor and environmental health specialist, Thomas Nissen of NissenMedica Inc. He developed this based on sound scientific principles and 20 years of research, as an easy, accurate home-based process to determine the presence of heavy metals in your body and/or your environment.
Test can be carried out in the comfort of your own home. By taking a urine sample and mixing it with the test solution (dithizone reagent), it tells you immediately whether you are carrying or excreting unbound toxic metal ions (specifically mercury, lead, cadmium, copper, nickel or zinc) in your body.
The Heavy Metal Screen Test is quick, accurate, affordable, and simple enough that anyone can do it. Test your drinking water, urine, saliva, dust, paint and food. Each kit comes with a test tube, test paper, pipette, and complete instructions. One test kit is good for one test only.
The Heavy Metal Screen Test is designed to be an effective component of your comprehensive health regime. Used in conjunction with effective chelation and detoxification products like Bio-Chelat heavy metal chelator and Detoxifying Clay Baths, the HMST allows the health conscious consumer to accurately assess their wellness action plan and take control of their health.
The scientifically documented Heavy Metal Screen Test allows the detection of free electrically active heavy metal ions in an aqueous solution by means of a simple procedure and it takes just a few minutes. This exploratory procedure, employed as an in vitro screen tool, is based on the dithizone reaction method, which has been known to chemical science for more than 60 years.
As a reagent, dithizone is able to indicate the presence of heavy metal ions in qualitative and in quantitative terms. In binding with the unbound or free metal ions, colored complexes are formed. The reaction times of the heavy metal ions vary; therefore, depending on their respective concentrations, different colorations occur from which one can, in addition to the qualitative conclusions, also semi-quantitative ones regarding the contaminant.
This method (Heavy Metal Screen Test) identifies the following metals: mercury, lead, cadmium, copper, nickel and zinc.
