Xenazine (Tetrabenazine)

Xenazine (Tetrabenazine) is used to treat Parkinson's symptoms and Huntington's Disease.
Huntington's Disease ia a hereditary and degenerative condition of the central nervous system (CNS) which carries a 50% risk of being inherited by the children of an affected parent.  This devastating disease affects a wide range of brain activities and symptoms gradually become apparent in middle age. Changes in personality or mood may be the earliest signs of the disease, followed by problems with memory and involuntary movements (chorea).

Xenazine is proven to be effective in the treatment of the chorea associated with Huntington's Disease. It is also effective in a range of other movement disorders (control iatrogenic movement disorders, such as Tardive Dyskinesia, caused by the prolonged use of antipsychotic drugs.

Xenazine is generally well tolerated and patients have been maintained on treatment for many years.
